Wine and Music Festival
August 15 - August 17 - This Weekend!
The
biggest event of the summer is August 15-17! Mammoth Festival features
wine, music, food and art together under the pines. Enjoy the tastes
of 30+
wineries while listening to Poncho
Sanchez, Robben Ford and more. The
Mammoth Festival Wine, Music and Food is now in its third year
and growing ever more popular with locals and visitors alike.
The festival
begins with a Wine Walk at the Village at Mammoth on Friday from 6:00
- 9:00 pm. Saturday at Sam's Wood Site wine tastings from more
than 30 vintners will be pouring from 12:30 - 5:00 pm. Visitors can
explore the works of art from craftspeople from around the Sierra
region from 12:00 - 6:00 pm. Experience a taste of Mammoth at
the outdoor food court. Many of Mammoths finest restaurants will have
a variety of savory snacks and desserts available to pair with a new
favorite wine from 12:00 until late. Live musical performances
by Robben Ford, Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band and Laurence Juber
with Guitar Noir from 12:00 - 9:00 pm. Sunday
at Sam's Wood Site there will be wine tasting, live music, art expo
and picnic in the pine continues from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. Admission is
Free, wine tasting sold separately. Dogs welcome.
Mammoth Pass Triathlon Gruel-a-thon
August 24, 2008
Starts at 10:00 am. Wet suits a must. This may
be the "hardest shortest race ya ever did" The Gruelathon
is a 1/4 mile swim; 6 mile mountain bike ride and 2 mile run.
This race may also be done in relay teams-family members or
friends. The gruelathon is $35.00. The grunt relay races-family
or friend is $25.00 per contestant. This race begins up at Horseshoe
Lake.

9th Mammoth Lakes Foundation Golf Classic
August 25, 2008
Sierra
Star Golf Course hosts this annual event with the golf classic getting
their tee off times on August 25. The Classic sponsored by the Mammoth
Lakes Foundation is in support of higher education and cultural enrichment
in the Eastern Sierra. $150 per
person and it includes 18 holes of golf, scramble format, lunch, awards
and cocktail party at Whiskey Creek on a world class golf course.

Troutstock Eastern Sierra
August 28 - September 1, 2008
Troutstock
returns for the 4th year. The million dollar prize is gone, but replacing
it will be more opportunities to win cash. will be returning for a fourth
year Tourtstock is the premier festival of all things trout held around
Mammoth Lakes featuring $13,500 in cash prizes, Kidstock, Troutstock
University, live entertainment and many fun and family friendly activities. Event

Labor Day Festival of the Arts
August 30, 2008 - September 1, 2008
Mammoth's Premier art event. Artists & contemporary
craftsmen, children's entertainment, fun foods and family
fun. When: from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
on Monday
Where: Sam’s Wood Site, on Minaret Road between Main Street (Hwy. 203) and
Meridian Road in Mammoth Lakes
Art, music, food and drinks in the outdoors. On display will be a wide variety
of art and craft work including furniture and home furnishings, handmade clothing,
custom jewelry, exquisite paintings and sculptures, beautiful ceramics, metal art
for the home and garden, glass work, turned wood, landscape photography. More than
100 fine artists and contemporary crafts people gather in scenic outdoors for event
that offers family fun, food and live entertainment and gives attendees the opportunity
to meet with more than 100 celebrated fine artists and contemporary crafts people
from throughout California and surrounding states as they showcase their original
creations against the majestic background of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Those attending the 38th Annual Labor Day Festival of the Arts will be treated to
a variety of offerings in the food court area – including an assortment of
Red’s International hot dogs, Thai/Chinese food, crepes and much more. Beverages
will include wine tasting from California ’s premier wineries and beer selections
from Mammoth Brewing Company. Entertainment will also be plentiful at the festival,
with the main stage area featuring the Sierra Studebakers Bluegrass Band, Double
Coyote’s romantic Brazilian jazz, and The Bishop Big Band, a festival favorite
playing swing music playing swing music at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
