TAHOE SUMMER EVENTS - AUGUST 2008 Things are really hoping in Tahoe this summer. As usual almost every weekend, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays there are concerts. We have grouped all the concerts into a separate section so that you can see the entire summer at a glance. Coming in September Lake Tahoe hosts a series of Marathons, so check the dates and mark your calendars... and there are the blues festivals in August. Stay tuned for more events as they materialize. There will be a silent auction and raffles giving away doubles play with the pros, hitting sessions, lessons, and more. Starting with a grape stomp, wine walk, mountain chef cook off, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, food and wine pairing classes, hand-on cooking classes, French wine tastings, gourmet marketplace, spirits tastings and so much more. Early bird discounted entry frees available. Entry includes water bottle, SWAG, snacks, lunch, dinner and music. The ride is a fundraiser for North Tahoe Middle and High School music programs. All volunteer crew, 100% proceeds to the music! Please see our website for registration and details. Event: Lake Tahoe Triathlon (Sep 26 to Sep 28) Time: varies A 3 day triathlon. Do one event a day and add the three times together for a vacation or novice triathlon. Kayak or Swim, bike, and then choose your run. The Great Tahoe Bike Races (Sep 27) Time: 7 A.M. Race 72 miles around Lake Tahoe starting at 7 A.M. at Zephyr Cove. The 35 Mile race starts at 8:30 A.M. at Tahoe City by the Fire House and the 20 Miler at the north end of Incline Village at Lake Shore Drive. 7th Annual Village Oktoberfest at the Village at Squaw Valley USA (Sep 27) Time: 2 to 6pm Traditional Bavarian music and folk dancers, benefit biergarten, bratwurst,sauerkraut & games. All entertainment at the event is free. www.thevillageatsquaw.com Lake Tahoe Marathon Events (Sep 28) Time: 8 A.M. Run the Lake Tahoe Marathon or other shorter races along the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Events on Sunday include: Marathon, 20 Miler, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 2 person or 5 person Marathon Relays. Also a 72 Mile Ultra Marathon around the lake. Spectator buses for those who would like to just watch. The Marathon starts in Tahoe City on Commons Beach. Other events start at Homewood, Rubicon, Inspiration Point, and Spring Creek and all ending at Pope Beach. |
