It is time to mark the calendars for the winter season events including ski trips during holiday periods. So here is the official "resort" holiday schedule

Spring Break Various depending on school district usually includes Passover and Easter

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN
Mammoth received 14-16" of new snow this past weekend. It was very unexpected and now has made the ski conditions fantastic. West Bowl opened for those who liked to bounce through knee deep powder and all the runs around Main Lodge are open.

Race Weeks November 30-December 17, 2009. Adults can learn to race like pros. You learn with other skiers who are the same age and same ability, from beginners to advanced and from young to "veterans".

Night of Lights December 19, 2009. Mammoth is excited for the return of the Night of Lights at Canyon Lodge Guests of all ages are invited to ride the complimentary Village Gondola to Canyon Lodge where they can enjoy a fun-filled night complete with a firework show, torchlight parade, live music and more.

January MidWeek Madness January 4-28, 2010. Lots of fun to come after the holidays for great winter skiing. The mountain has live music, the restaurants offer specials, and we have January Midweek Madness travel packages especially for this non crowded time to come to the mountain.

Ski Week February 15-21, 2010. Ski Week was started to give sunny Southern California a chance to get some physical education in the mountains. Now it's used as an excuse to come to Mammoth for great winter skiing.

Gay Ski Week March 17 - 21, 2010. Mark your calendars if you're so inclined. This is an annual event where Mammoth hosts a large 4 day celebration with parties and outrageous behavior.

NORTH LAKE TAHOE

Squaw Valley got 8" of new snow from the recent storms, and Northstar reports another 5". This is great news for those who want to cruise the top to bottom runs.

Learn To Ski Week in North Tahoe December 12-13, 2010. New skiers and riders can save big with Learn to Ski or Ride at Alpine Meadows, Boreal Mountain Resort, Diamond Peak, Granlibakken, Homewood Mountain Resort, Mt. Rose, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Squaw Valley or Sugar Bowl. The $25 deal includes group lesson, beginner lift ticket and rental equipment. Purchase at resort on day of lessons.

Diamond Peak Learn to Ski & Ride January 11-15, 2010 $29
Ski and Ride Week is developed to introduce newcomers to skiing and boarding. You can purchase tickets at the ski resort on the day of lessons.

Squaw Valley Olympic Heritage Celebration January 8-17, 2010. Olympic Torch Run, Biathlons, Elvis Day, and fireworks remembering Squaw Valley's 60th anniversary of hosting the Olympics. For details, Squaw Valley Events

USASA Slopeside and Superpipes January 9-10, 2010. Snowboard competition series at Boreal Mountain Resort.

Women's Ski and Snowboard Camp January 22-24, 2010 and Feb. 26-28, 2010. This is a time for women to really learn to ski and ride, taught by female instructors. This is a great time to advance your slope skills. at Northstar ski resort

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE

Heavenly Valley is reporting 8-10" of new snow and top to bottom runs. This is just in time for the upcoming holiday season.

There is mostly concert after concert in South Lake Tahoe. The Headliners are terrific and all at Harrah's, Air Supply, Bruce Spingsteen, Tower of Power, Al Jarreau, America and more. If you're planning some ski time, check out the Harrah's nightlife. And this will help you get a room at Harrah's.

Snow Summit is reporting natural snow! This is good news as the groom team has been working furiously to get top to bottom runs and the terrain parks open.Bear Mountain is also NOW OPEN!

USASA Ski Race December 13, 2009. If you love to ski this is a Giant Slalom ride at Snow Summit.

New Years Eve Party December 31, 2009. 9:00 PM Bear Mountain is hosting an outrageous New Years Eve Party.

KIIS FM DAY January 9, 2010 The radio station comes to town, and this is followed by... Peanut Butter Rail Jam January 10, 2010. And the Power 106 "Flava" unit. whoo hoo...

KROQ Radio & Burton January 16-18, 2009. Martin Luther King Weekend. Join the station and the snowboard team of Burton and watch the competitions of half pipe and slopestyle.
