Here's what's happening at the resorts for New Years Day and the weekend. See each resort heading for lodging specials.
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN

Many companies have dropped their rates to regular season rates instead of holiday rates. You can book them all online or call us if you need some guidance or help. Mammoth Creek Inn is also offering a 10% discount on a 3 night stay and 15% discount on 4 nights. There are condos and hotels available for the last minute vacation planners.
Over 60" of new snow fell the week leading up to Christmas Day. The conditions are unbelievable with the mountain reporting all lifts and runs are open. Weather is cold so the snow is staying fresh and light. There is a small amount of fresh snow coming on January 3, 2009 which would make for great skiing on Sunday morning.
New Years Day is a great day to ski as everyone sleeps in! If you're in town or going to town, here is what is happening on New Years Eve. Don't forget the Rose Bowl Game at Grumpy's 35 flat screen TVs and more fun when you can hoot and yell out loud!
LAKE TAHOE
Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts

There are plenty of condos still available in Incline Village which is on the Nevada Cal border. Incline Village is closest to Diamond Peak and Northstar ski areas. You can buzz around the north shore to Squaw Valley, or go the opposite way to Heavenly Valley. Hotels are still reporting vacancy so you may want to take one that has some wild entertainment for the weekend like the Hyatt or Mont Bleu. We recently added some luxury lodging in South Lake Tahoe. Gorgeous 5 star homes now for rent.
Lake Tahoe area received over four feet of snow which brings their snow totals up to 12 feet in the last 13 days. Wow.

BIG BEAR
Snow Summit and Bear Mountain

There are plenty of condos still available in Big Bear Lake with just a 2 night minimum for the New Years Weekend. For a one night stay, you can try the local Big Bear hotels. The conditions are the best they have been for local skiing. It's a lot of fun to blast up here for the weekend on short notice.
During the last storms, Big Bear received one of its biggest dumps ever. That being said, the roads are clear, the sun is out, and the snow is waiting for you. The weather is reported as being sunny and clear.
From torchlight parades to home cooked celebrations, Big Bear is full of events for New Years Eve and day. Remember that Big Bear is only 1.5 hours to the base of the mountain, and 1 hour up the hill, from Los Angeles. Come for the day, for the night, but come get some fresh air.
