Gaining
New Customers |
You
know your business better than anyone,
right? So how was summer for you? It
isn't all the fault of the economy. Results
from marketing promotions will level off, when companies consistently
due the same kind of business promotion. Why? Because stagnent marketing
is ignored by the customer base you are trying to reach. This is
why you see so many different advertisements for the same Mcburger.
They consistently have something to say
and this keeps customers interested.
This comes in the form of new web and print
ads, along
with new graphics, and new reasons for customers to be excited about
you.
There are only 2 ways to gain new customers. You either go out and
get them yourself, or you let someone else get them for you... or
both. Shoulder season is typically the time to look at your needs
for the upcoming winter. To be fair to your analysis, leave enough
time for decisions, design, as well as execution. If youo're seeking
out new ways to promote as the publisher their thoughts. While you
might know your business best, the publisher will know their audience,
and how to reach them. You both win when promotions work.

Link Farms |
Linking is good right? Simply...
yes it is. It does help to raise your page placement / ranking with search engines.
But Link Farms, do just the opposite! A Link Farms is any group
of websites that are hyperlinked to every other site
in that same group. These are not the same as exchanging or buying
a link, or having someone link to you from another website for more
information.
Link Farms are generally created by an automated
system to build as many links on a website as possible with the
hopes that they can artificially change a web page rank. There
is no relationship between the business, it is purely linking and
this is looked derogatorial among search engines.
In contrast having links from popular website to your site within
the same interest group is a good thing. These inbound links help
your site raise in its popularity not only through the mechanics
of the search engines, but from the additional traffic they bring
you. While exchanging a link is the least expensive way to go, saavy web advertisers can get
built into sites by working with the other side to choose specialty
words and built the links in to them. This becomes a form of the
webs "product placement" which is seem so much on television today
and a valubable tool to build your sites popularity without "spamdexing"
the search engines.
So is being listed in a directory considered "Spamdexing". No it is not and in fact because the page you are listed on is topic specific, it will raise your ranking. Is listing 50 different companies that have no relationship to you but might be in your line of work. No, this is a link farm. Example: You sell hotels, and you have 50 other hotels all across the United States / Europe / Asia listed on a page. No, this would be considered a link farm.
