Convict Lake Fishing Derby - October 1 - November 15- Hosted by Convict Lake Resort, the fall Fishing Derby has cash and prizes for you to win on every weekend. Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort

Oktoberfest
- October 10 -17, 2010 It might feel like summer, but it’s never too early to plan for fall.
Tahoe City hosts its annual Oktoberfest and Harvest Festival October
10-17 with Scarecrows on Parade, pumpkin patch and family carnival. Plan on spending some time in North Lake Tahoe for the annual Ocktoberfest celebration.
Learn To Ski Week in North Tahoe - December 12-13New skiers and riders can save big with Learn to Ski or Ride December
12-13 at Alpine Meadows, Boreal Mountain Resort, Diamond Peak,
Granlibakken, Homewood Mountain Resort, Mt. Rose, Northstar-at-Tahoe,
Squaw Valley or Sugar Bowl. The $25 deal includes group lesson,
beginner lift ticket and rental equipment. Northstar extends its
Learn to Ski or Ride deal, midweek December 1-18, while Diamond Peak
offers Learn to Ski & Ride Weeks January 11-15, 2010 and March 8-12,
2010 for $29.
Not everyone can gracefully
schuss down black diamond slopes and North Lake Tahoe ski resorts are
giving novice skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to learn at
bargain prices. Alpine Meadows, Boreal Mountain Resort, Diamond Peak,
Homewood Mountain Resort, Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe,
Squaw Valley USA and Sugar Bowl participate. $25 includes
an all-day beginner lift ticket, group lesson and gear rental. Purchase at resort on the day of lessons.
Take advantage of lower cost lodging during this time frame as well.
Burton approached their partner Learn To Ride Centers last season with a request for marketing proposals with creative ideas on how to promote the Burton Learn To Ride program through marketing, social media, snowboard school programs or special events. Diamond Peak submitted an on-mountain video produced by the marketing department outlining new Learn To Ride events, programs and ways to engage new and progressing riders.
Two Burton Learn To Ride weeks will be held January 11-15 and March 8-12. Guests can buy a first-time Learn To Ride package for only $29! The package includes a beginner lift ticket, Burton Progression equipment and 1 hr 45 min lesson. The package is available to those ages 7 and up.

Squaw Valley USA pulls out all the stops
with Opening Day Saturday, November 21 when skier extraordinaire JT
Holmes base jumps from the legendary cable car. Olympian Jonny
Moseley will also be on hand, toasting Squaw's 60th Anniversary on
the KT Sundeck from 2-3:45 p.m
Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe hosts Saturday in the Park Rail Jam Saturday,
November 21 when participating snowboarders are judged on their
tricks in a jam-style format from 1-2 p.m. in the Ponderosa Park.
Free and open to all ages and abilities, but you must have a Mt. Rose
season pass or lift ticket to enter.
Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, Alpine Skills International and The
Backcountry have teamed up to launch the new Backcountry Adventure
Center at Sugar Bowl, and to celebrate they're throwing a Backcountry
Ball Saturday, November 21, 5-10 p.m., at the Lodge at Sugar Bowl on
Donner Summit. Tickets, $15/person and available at The Backcountry
in Truckee, include a hut-style dinner, with a portion benefitting
the Sierra Avalanche Center.
Thanksgiving is around the corner and what better way to share the
holiday than with loved ones at the Hyatt Regency's Holiday Jazz Fest
November 27-28, with headlining jazz performers Chris Botti and Boney
James, in scenic Incline Village. Ticket prices start at $65/person
each night. Lone Eagle Grille also offers a lavish Thanksgiving
Dinner Thursday, November 26.
Lake Tahoe is the star in this year's Warren Miller film titled
Dynasty. Catch it all at the Crystal Bay Casino in Crystal Bay
Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, with shows times, both
nights, 6:30 and 9:15 p.m.
The Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley hosts a workshop with
world-renowned Buddhist teacher from Tibet and highly acclaimed
author Sogyal Rinpoche, titled "Gaining Confidence in Our Innate
Wisdom," November 27 through December 6 with a weekend option available.
Perfect for the entire family is Tahoe Players' 101 Dalmatians Live
Theatre Sunday, November 29, 2 and 6 p.m., in the Frank Sinatra
Celebrity Showroom at the Cal Neva Resort in Crystal Bay. Pre-show
milk and cookies are at 1 p.m.
Northstar-at-Tahoe brings back its popular Noel Nights starting
Thursday, December 3, 5-8 p.m., with s'mores by the fire, free ice
skating, hot cocoa, shopping specials, holiday carolers and photos
with Santa.
Mark your calendar for Friday, December 4 when Kings Beach holds its
traditional Holiday Fair and Tree Lighting Ceremony at the North
Tahoe Event Center from 5-8 p.m.

Marathon Week
- September 23-27, 2009
Saturday, September 26 - a series of free Kids Fun Runs for toddlers to age 12 years, 2
p.m., at Pope Beach in South Lake Tahoe, California. Children race in
one-year age groups from yards to a mile.
All children receive a finisher's medal, hot dog and drink, and
an official runner's race bib.
Runners and walkers have a host of events to choose from during the
Lake Tahoe Marathon Race Week (September 23-27), including the
Marathon, coined a Sunday morning run that you'll never forget, that
winds down the West Shore from Tahoe City to South Lake Tahoe's Pope
Beach for a post-run bash; 3-Day Triathlon; Marathon Relays; Half
Marathon; 20, 35 or 72-Mile Bike Races; Kayaking events; and Speed Golf.

Tahoe Triple Run - September 25-27,2009
Ultra runners test their physical and
mental endurance at the Lake Tahoe Marathon during the 9th Annual
Tahoe Triple and the 4th Annual Super Triple, both of which kick off
Friday, September 25 and conclude on the official marathon race day,
Sunday, September 27. The Tahoe Triple has racers running three marathons in three
consecutive days in two states, and circumnavigates the entire
shoreline of Lake Tahoe. The Super Triple kicks it up with two
marathons in two consecutive days (Friday and Saturday), but rather
than resting Saturday night participants hit the ground running at 10
p.m. to run another 72 miles, which includes the Sunday marathon
event. Both groups are treated to dinner and ultra runner speakers
Thursday, September 24, the night before racing begins.
